    For women excelled in the Tech industry, we are defamed, denigrated (bitch, slut, whore, doesn't know anything, etc), ousted; and in my case, beheading (see pic) to kill me.
    We not only NOT given the credits we deserved by male managers, but were taken credits that belong to women/me by male coworkers and male managers.
    It is NOT because women suddenly decided to stay home and have babies after we worked so hard and went through hell to get our STEM degree, which is what the Tech industry/males used as a pretext to justify the ousting of women. These are Tech leaders and are billionaires, they are extremely smart and knew the truth, yet they still used such repugnant specious pretext to prey on the weakest group in the Tech industry, and systematically ousting of women.
    At least with the Islamic Extremists, people are aware they hated educated women, but how many people know the Tech industry hated educated women too?

            I am so sad to read these comments. I am a woman who has been in the tech field over 30 years. I used to think very similar things to what has been expressed in some of the comments below. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the younger women in the tech field don’t see the discrimination yet. It is very subtle but very damaging to innovation and excellence.
            People make positive judgements for people like them and negative judgements for people not like them. These judgements have little basis in fact but do result in excellent people being shut out. I have a million stories. I’ll give you just two recent examples. 1) I was the only woman in a group. We all did the same job. I had as much relevant experience as any, better past successes than any, better educational credentials than many yet all but one other in the group were at a higher pay level. I worked more hours than the men and supported more customers. I was one of the best as evidenced by the number of customers requesting me and rejecting others in the group. 2) A woman in a tech position was laid off, none of the white men in her position were laid off. She was considered one of the top performers by many before the lay off. When I expressed surprise that she was laid off I was told she only appeared “good”, she was secretly “not good”. I saw the work she produced. I had technical discussions with her. I saw her participation in meetings. She was good. Some of the men not laid off were nowhere near as good as she was.
            The attitudes behind these actions are why there are so few women in tech positions. It has nothing to do with interest, ability, or the hours worked. And yes, women drop out of tech fields in college because of discrimination there, making the pool of qualified women smaller.

                The people below bring up good points. What is the ratio of men/women graduating with degrees in IT?
                Is it sexist discrimination the ratio of women who are nurses? Is it racial discrimination the amount of black athletes that have pro sports jobs? Why are white men under represented in the NFL, discrimination? Why are women held back from playing in the NFL? Maybe sometimes certain races or genders might have more of a natural ability or interest in specific fields of work than others. Maybe it's not sexist or racist?
                And if it was simply racism and sexism, how about those companies fire those white men tomorrow and hire women? Maybe because of a lack of qualified people?
                They hired the best qualified candidates for the job. This is why the NFL is predominately black. The owners of the NFL teams don't care what race or gender you are, they want to win games, they hire the fastest. Likewise, the tech companies don't care what race or gender you are they want the best technology in the world, they hire the best techs they can find.

                    Do you think NFL will ever let a woman play, even though she is better then Joe Montana?
                    That is a specious argument at best. Blacks weren't allow to play not too long ago. Just like women are not allow to play in the Tech industry now.

                    Why is this an issue? Where are the hordes of rabid activist clamoring for raising the participation of women in coal mining, Alaskan crab fishing, sewer cleaning, mercenaries, etc? It is really disgusting the victim mentality that some people have.

                        70/30 may be the ratio of men/women who have an interest and education in the technical fields. At face value it's not unrealistic. You can't just throw out the ratio like it should compare straight to the population percentages without looking at the ratios of available participants in that field.

                            Women weren't even allowed into higher education not long ago. Now women are 50% of the graduates in fields such as Law, MBA, Medical doctor, etc
                            What is your point?

                              There are very nearly zero women in the hard-core jobs, which means to compensate the women get all the soft-core jobs, which makes everything seem sexist.

                                  What are the percentages for the following?:
                                  Total US Employment by Gender?
                                  College graduates with a tech related degree?
                                  I am not condoning the difference in hiring, I would just like to know these numbers to get a real sense of the issue. If tech related graduates are 70% male then these companies are hiring right in line with the available pool of workers.

                                      I worked in the this very industry. We hired 50% female and 50% males even though the applications where 10 times male to female. The hours a person had to work to get ahead started at 80 hours a week. After 5 years 80% of the females take leaves or quit to raise a family. (I knew two males that took parental leave, they where both laid off for doing so). Many of those females that come back wanted part time or a least a sensible work week and get it. NO males ever get part time and would be fired if they worked less then 50-60 hours a week. 
                                      The hard working remaining females would joke with me that they would get promoted sooner as they where females. Pressure like these articles meant that even though there where more qualified males the company was worried about this and promoted females first when ever possible.
                                      Despite being a white male I did work my way into an executive position. I had to take education once a year and sign a document stating I would hire minorities and females before white males.
                                      So yes a sex bias does exist, just not against who the press suggests.
                                      Until the world finds a way for men to have babies 50% females in every job will never be reality.
