to know as the first person to find the bug in the PCI bus in 1995, on my first week on the job (3rd day actually), that I took a sick day on the day of being introduced by the Technical Principle of Texas Instruments, who was also the Head of the IEEE802.3, in it's meeting in Houston.
I knew I would be targeted if people knew I was that good at my job. As a woman in the Tech field, I would be an easy target. Well, I was a target nevertheless as my coworkers knew, and I was targeted relentlessly, even though I was in the lab all the time, and people working around that lab knew me better.
